Agboyi Ketu Empowerment Program

Black Diamonds Support Foundation Empowerment team’s aim is to train as many indigent young girls and women to be financially independent so as to train and cater for their children. We select randomly from slums across Lagos state and we visit a slum every quarter to empower the indigent females.

We were in Agboyi-ketu in kosofe local government area of Lagos State from the 23rd-26th of May, 2018. The people were trained on how to make insecticide, disinfectants, simple baking, bead making and also how to make a fruit tree. Although the agboyi-ketu river was a challenge for the team but we were able to train 80 young girls and women attempting to help them attain financial independence.

The BDSF children day party held at Agboyi-ketu slum Lagos state on the 27th of May was a success, the party was to round up the empowerment program that we had started some days earlier. We had fun with the children, food and drinks with gifts was shared to over 600 indigent children.

They were all happy because they as indigent children were not forgotten on a special day, being celebrated as kids on the day was foreign to them and we believe they realized that they weren’t left out as humans.
