Security Report

I was surprised, shocked and unsure of how i will deliver when i received a message that i am the Sub-Committee Chairman in charge of security. Small me!  I was scared because i had never had any prior experience in security. I thought it was an easy task not until Boss Lady gave me a brief, then, I knew securing the lives and properties of volunteers, children and the venue was going to be tasking job. People volunteered to become part of the team. And YES, i had the most wonderful team! We had series of meetings and we came to conclusion of hiring external security officers inorder to make our assignment delivered. Work started in earnest and letters were submitted to the Division of the Legion, Nigerian Navy, RRS, Halogen Security and LASTMA. Offices were visited severally, calls were made occasionally, deliberation were made back and forth and at the end of the day, we received positive news. Initially, i was scared about my team members as i haven’t met some before and how they will feel taking orders from me and my fears were allayed and all of them went out of their way to work as a team.  At first, I thought project 5000 was a small project not until i followed procurement and logistics heads to the market to move the bottles and bags that was when i knew what 5000 truly means, so i had to assist in doing other assignments aside  security like being a driver, loader and cow catcher 😂. The day i won’t forget was when we went  to buy the cows , we nearly got to Ibadan even google map(procurement head) was not sure of the route. On getting there, Boss Lady started feeling sorry for the cows telling me “they have innocent look in their eyes” (in my mind i was like kill this thing jor, lol), i had to hold my life in my hands cause of the stubborn cows that were just misbehaving and we even bought a stubborn cow that shakes the truck every 10min to a point we were moving at 20km(I’m sure if i jog, I’m faster than that), thank God we got home safely.

The Big Day,  Dec 26th came,  getting to the stadium very early and few security team members were on ground got me scared, I never prayed that much before but I became a prayer warrior that morning. Then, my team members started trooping in, same as external security officers. We had Walkie talkies for the sub heads and security members, hearing the sound “over and out” everywhere gave me joy. Everything went out as planned all thanks to God

Project5000 was indeed awesome!
